Amazon’s big sale events (the fall Prime deal days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday) are a good time to pick up the few pieces of gear that make container growing easier, especially the indoor setup you’ll lean on all winter. This page lists only things already on our Recommended Gear page, so nothing here was added just because it happened to be discounted.
This page contains affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — full details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
How to use this page: we don’t list prices, because they change by the hour during sales. Click through, check today’s price, and compare it with what you’d normally pay. If an item isn’t discounted, it’s usually fine to wait. The ones worth buying at any time are the grow light and timer if you’re starting an indoor setup this winter.

Grow Lights and Timers
If you’re growing herbs or greens indoors this winter, light is the one thing worth spending on. See our grow lights for small-space herbs and grow lights for indoor vegetables guides for how to choose.
GooingTop clip-on grow light: a gooseneck light with a built-in timer, for one or two herb pots on a windowsill.
SANSI grow light bulb: the cheapest way to light one pot or tray. It screws into any lamp with a standard socket.
Barrina T5 light strips (4-pack): slim strips for lighting a whole shelf of lettuce, greens or microgreens.
Mars Hydro TS600: a small panel for a table, corner or 2×2 tent, with enough output for lots of greens or one dwarf tomato.
Barrina CX3 plant stand: a rolling four-tier shelf with lights and a timer built in, for a ready-made indoor garden with no drilling.
BN-LINK outlet timer: switches any light on and off by itself. Cheap, and it makes the 14–16 hour light schedules most indoor crops need easy to keep.
Grow Tents
For growing more than a shelf of greens, such as peppers or a dwarf tomato through winter. Our grow tents for vegetables guide covers sizing.
Mars Hydro 2×2 grow tent: a starter tent that pairs with the TS600 light above.
VIVOSUN S336 3×3 grow tent: room for a tomato, a pepper, a trellised cucumber and a tray of greens at once.
AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S4 inline fan: a quiet exhaust fan to keep air moving and humidity down in any tent.
TempPro TP50 thermometer/hygrometer: a small digital reader so you know the temperature and humidity inside a tent or grow corner.
Containers
Gardzen 10-gallon fabric grow bags (10-pack): breathable bags with drainage all around. A good stock-up buy for next spring’s tomatoes and potatoes.
RooTrimmer 5-gallon nursery pots (5-pack): sturdy pots with drainage holes already punched in, one per tomato or pepper.
Hydrofarm self-watering tomato system: a reservoir planter on wheels. Plan on one tomato or two peppers per unit.
Frost and Season Extension
Gardzen floating row cover (1.5 oz): a reusable frost cloth you can trim for a few pots or drape over a whole railing. Our pre-frost checklist shows how to use it.
Sale-Day Tips
- Buy for this winter first. A light and a timer earn their keep now; pots and grow bags can wait until closer to spring if they aren’t discounted.
- Size the light to the space. A clip-on light for one pot, strips for a shelf, a panel only if you have a tent or a big table.
- Check the seller. During big sales, look for “Ships from and sold by Amazon” or the brand’s own store.
- Don’t buy potting mix just because it’s on sale. Bags are heavy to store, and mix is easy to find at any garden center when you need it.
